In continuation of the presidential initiative “Beginning“ aimed at building the Egyptian citizens, the Faculty of Science held an important scientific symposium on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, titled: “Cellular Molecular Biology: From Discovery to Application.” The event was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Noamany, President of Sohag University, and Prof. Dr. Hazem Elmeshnip, Dean of the Faculty of Science, with leadership from Prof. Dr. Alaa Yosri, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Hamdy Soliman, Head of the Zoology Department. The symposium was supervised by Prof. Dr. Tito Habib, Director of the Molecular Genetics, Immunology, and Cancer Research Laboratory, with a lecture by Dr. Mohamed Omar Al-Tonsy, Assistant Professor in the Zoology Department and researcher at the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases, University of Calgary, Canada.
The symposium highlighted the latest advancements in molecular and genetic diagnostics, emphasizing the importance of cutting-edge cellular and molecular techniques, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence in enhancing precise and early diagnostic strategies and tracking disease severity. Also, it explored how these technologies contribute to designing more efficient and targeted therapies.
The event was attended by a large number of faculty members, support staff, and a diverse group of postgraduate and undergraduate students, who showed great interest and enthusiasm in scientific discussions.
This symposium aligns with efforts to foster scientific dialogue between researchers and students, encourage applications of molecular sciences in medicine, advance targeted treatment methods, and ultimately improve patient care.
