Faculty of Science Organizes “First Aid Basics” Workshop

As part of the presidential initiative Bidaya (New Beginning), the Faculty of Science organized an educational workshop titled “First Aid Basics”. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Noumani, President of Sohag University, and Prof. Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, as well as Prof. Dr. Hazem Elmeshneb, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and led by Prof. Dr. Alaa Yousry, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. The workshop was presented by Dr. Ahmed Ali, a lecturer of Critical Care Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, with the attendance of Prof. Dr. Hussein Abdelhafez, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, alongside department heads, faculty members, Mr. Hesham Galal (College manager), staff, and some students.

The University President emphasized that Sohag University is dedicated to achieving the social, health, and environmental goals of the presidential initiative Bidaya, noting that the university has conducted various visits, workshops, and training sessions both on and off campus and continues to do so. He highlighted that the initiative is focused on fostering the health, scientific knowledge, and cultural development of the Egyptian people, investing in human resources as a key pillar of development. All resources and efforts are being mobilized to activate the initiative due to its importance in empowering citizens and building capabilities under Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Prof. Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that this initiative is among the most comprehensive and actionable of the presidential initiatives. It targets all Egyptian citizens across various fields, aiming to build the Egyptian individual and support sustainable development goals, including economic growth, national security, and political stability, with a particular focus on improving health, education, and job opportunities for all.

Prof. Dr. Hazem Elmeshneb, Dean of the Faculty of Science, expressed the college’s commitment to supporting all state development efforts across various sectors, actively participating in all activities of the initiative—whether in health, social, or sports fields. He thanked Dr. Ahmed Ali for his clear and accessible explanation of theoretical and practical first aid procedures. Prof. Dr. Elmeshneb noted that the presidential initiative places significant importance on human health and access to quality education. He highlighted that the “First Aid Basics workshop was crucial for raising awareness and education on lifesaving measures during emergencies. This aligns with the faculty’s sustainability vision to promote a safe, hazard-free environment by reducing exposure to accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses that may occur during practical lessons. The workshop covered essential first aid responses for wounds, fractures, burns, fainting, CPR, and more.

Prof. Dr. Alaa Yousry added that the workshop was designed for all college members. He noted the participants’ enthusiasm and appreciation for the event, which provided them with vital knowledge of first aid practices. These skills not only prepare individuals to respond effectively in emergencies but also benefit them throughout their lives, helping them to safeguard their own and others’ well-being.
