An introductory seminar on academic advising

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister, Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Naamani, President of the University, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassein, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Hazem Al-Mashnab, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and His Excellency Prof. Dr. Zakaria Attia, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, the Academic Advising and Student Services Unit at the Faculty of Science organized an introductory seminar on academic advising, delivered by Professor Prof. Dr. Hazem Al-Mashnab, in the presence of the Faculty’s Vice Deans, the Director of the Academic Advising and Student Services Unit, the Vice Deans of the Academic Advising Unit, and the Director of the Quality Unit.

The seminar aimed at enhancing the skills of academic advisors in guiding students within an effective advisory framework. Its main themes addressed the role of the academic advisor in helping students overcome academic obstacles, explaining the mechanisms related to course registration, deleting and adding courses, and processing registration, in addition to clarifying the dates for withdrawing from courses and postponing the semester, and the number of hours available for struggling students.

At the end of the seminar, an open dialogue took place between the Dean and the attendees, where the academic advisors’ inquiries about the academic regulations and governing rules were discussed, with the aim of reaching a deeper understanding that would contribute to improving the level of academic guidance for students.
