
Prof. Dr. Hazem Mahmoud Al-Mashnab, Dean of the Faculty of, and Prof. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Hafez Al-Zanati, Vice Dean for Post Graduate Studies and Research, honored a group of young chemists at the college for their ability to publish research in Q1 and Q2 journals listed in the Scopus classification.
In this context, His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Naamani, indicated that Sohag University has a distinguished group of researchers who excel in scientific publishing and that the university’s classification depends primarily on research published in peer-reviewed international journals with a high impact factor.
His Excellency added that the university provides all financial and moral support to researchers and scientific research and that Sohag University is witnessing a renaissance in all fields, especially those related to postgraduate studies and scientific research. In this context, His Excellency indicated that 20 faculty members at the university were included in the list of Stanford University in the United States for the top 2% of the world’s “most cited” scientists.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Hazem Mahmoud Al-Mashnab, Dean of the Faculty of Science, indicated that the faculty is working to overcome all difficulties related to scientific research and provides all support to laboratories and research groups. His Excellency indicated that the faculty has more than 60 research laboratories equipped with the latest devices and equipment in addition to a number of research units, and that the faculty is working to develop the central laboratory and support research projects to support scientific research and researchers. Al-Mashnab added that the faculty has an ambitious plan to increase postgraduate programs, especially those that serve the community and meet the needs of the labor market.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Hafez Al-Zanati, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that honoring young researchers is one of the priorities of the faculty administration to create a new generation of creative researchers capable of carrying the banner of development and progress. His Excellency added that the Faculty of Science is distinguished by scientific publishing in terms of quantity and quality, as the number of research published this year in journals listed in the Scopus classification will exceed 500 research papers, and a large percentage of these research papers are published in highly classified journals with a high impact factor, which contributes to raising the university’s classification.
