Master of Science
For a student to be enrolled in a master’s degree, the following conditions are required:
To have a bachelor’s degree in science from one of the faculties of science in Egyptian universities, or any equivalent degree from any other institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities, with at least a good grade (or its equivalent).
Based on the approval of the concerned department council, the College Council may accept a student’s enrollment for a master’s degree if he has a Bachelor of Science with an acceptable general grade (or equivalent) in addition to a postgraduate diploma with at least a very good general grade (or its equivalent) in an appropriate major from one of the universities. Colleges of science recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities.
The Faculty Council may, after taking the opinion of the concerned department council, accept non-Egyptian students who have a bachelor’s degree in science from any college or scientific institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities with a general grade of acceptable or higher or its equivalent.
The student should devote himself to studying at least two days a week for a period of at least two years.
Students with at least a very good general grade (or equivalent) in the Bachelor of Science and Education and the Bachelor of Engineering may be admitted to the enrollment for a master’s degree in science, after clearing and successfully passing the complementary courses for two years that are determined by the scientific departments and with the approval of the College Council, or obtaining a diploma in the field of specialization with a general grade At least very good (or equivalent).
The minimum age limit for granting a master’s degree is one calendar year from the date of approval of the registration by the University Council.
The maximum limit for granting a master’s degree is five Gregorian years from the date of registration, taking into account cases of suspension of enrollment. Registration may be extended by a maximum of two years based on the request of the main supervisor and the approval of the concerned department council, the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee, and the College Council.
To register a master’s thesis, no more than three years have passed since the student passed the preliminary year exams for the master’s.
The concerned department council determines before the start of the study, based on the request of the main supervisor, the courses that will be taught to the student during the academic year, from among the list of courses of code 600 according to the attached tables. Master’s students may study some courses from Code 700, provided that in this case these courses are from a different major and not in the student’s original major. In all cases, these courses are approved by the Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research and the College Council.
The total number of credit hours for obtaining a master’s degree is 48 credit hours, including 24 credit hours for introductory courses and 24 credit hours for the thesis.
In the event that the student wishes to change the specialization to another major within the specializations offered for the master’s, during or after the preliminary year, he must submit an application to the department council with justifications accepted by the department council, and a main supervisor is appointed for him in the new specialization
The student shall be re-enrolled in the new specialization within the specified enrollment dates, along with determining the academic courses, and approving the results of the courses he has previously passed, in case they are approved for him again.
The student conducts research on a topic determined by the main supervisor and approved by the concerned department council, the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee, and the College Council. The student submits a thesis with an estimated 24 credit hours.
The concerned department council may, upon a request from the main supervisor, recommend approval of amending the research topic only once during the master’s study, and this may be done with or without changing the supervisors. This amendment shall be approved by the College and University Councils. If the amendment is substantial, the student will not be granted a master’s degree before the lapse of six months from the date of approval by the University Council.
Based on the recommendation of the concerned department council and the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee, the College Council recommended granting a master’s degree if the student fulfills the following conditions:
Successful completion of all academic courses.
The passage of at least one Gregorian year since the start of registration from the date of approval of the University Council for registration.
The student must pass the English language exam at the international or local TOEFL level and obtain a score of at least (450) before submitting the validity of the thesis to the department council or any other conditions approved by the university.
Acceptance of the letter from the judging committee and recommendation to award the degree.
The student submits proof of obtaining a certificate of basics of digital transformation or its equivalent, or any other conditions approved by the university before submitting the validity of the thesis to the relevant department council.
The College Council cancels the enrollment of a student for a master’s degree in the following cases:
The student is not eligible for scientific research based on three negative reports submitted by the student’s supervision committee after presenting them to the relevant department council and the Graduate Studies and Research Committee.
The student’s interruption of studies or his lack of seriousness in the research, with the approval of the concerned department council and the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee, based on a report from the supervisors, and after warning him three times.
The judging committee rejected the thesis and recommended not to award the degree.
Not granting a degree within the periods stipulated in the regulations, taking into account cases of suspension of enrollment.
