Unit Establishment

  • The University Council approved the establishment of the Public Service Center for Marketing University Services on September 4, 2006.

  • The Ministry of Finance approved the center on August 6, 2007. The University Council then issued a decision on November 29, 2010, amending the name to the University Services Marketing Center at faculty of Science

  • The center markets university services in various fields, provides scientific, technical, and applied consultations, and organizes training programs and seminars,

Unit Establishment

The establishment of the Prevention Unit at Faculty of Science, Sohag University, was approved by the University Council’s decision dated 3/26/2020. It is one of the special units affiliated to the Public Service Center for Marketing University Services at the University.

• Assisting the university in fulfilling its mission of being a center of cultural, scientific, and research influence by addressing local and global crises.
• Using science to address current and future health problems.
Instilling a spirit of community participation among university staff.
• Mastery and quality to deliver a distinguished product to the community, adding renewable resources to the university and connecting it to industry.
• Spreading the culture of using disinfectants to eliminate viruses and supporting the state in achieving its goals and Vision 2030 to preserve public health.
• Participate students in shaping the future through training, skill development, and opening up job opportunities and entrepreneurship.

• Contribute to serving the university and the community by developing solutions to the current crisis (COVID-19) by providing a number of preventive and protective products.
• Foresee the future by spreading the culture of disinfection and sterilization to preserve public health and achieve Vision 2030.
Encouraging the use of science and investing in it to confront crises and make decisions in all areas of life.
• Linking the university with industry by preparing and implementing training courses for students in the field of manufacturing disinfectants and detergents, embracing entrepreneurship.
• Providing scientific consultations in the unit’s field of work to the university and others.
• Achieving institutional loyalty, belonging, and teamwork.

• Hand sanitizer (alcohol + gel).
• Surface and floor sanitizer.
• Bio-sterilization.
• Liquid soap.

• The unit participated in the initiative “Working for Egypt” from March 23 to April 9. The initiative began on Monday, March 23, and continued for 18 days until April 9. It sterilized and disinfected several government agencies, institutions, and local units, distributing approximately 200 tons of disinfectant free of charge
• The unit participated in the 2021 Professor Ahmed Aziz Institutional Excellence Competition at Sohag University in the Team Category and got the second position at Sohag University (it is currently applying for the Egypt Government Excellence Competition).
• Total sales revenue from March 2020 to February 2022 was approximately 143,891 (one hundred forty-three thousand, eight hundred and ninety-one Egyptian pounds)..

About the Laboratory
  • The laboratory is dedicated to conducting distinguished research in the fields of molecular biology and biotechnology and providing scientific and technical consultations on their applications. The center is particularly interested in tissue and cell culture and studying gene expression under various conditions
  • The laboratory also specializes in detecting viral diseases in plants and animals using modern equipment that relies on proteins and nucleic acid (DNA and RNA).
  • The laboratory is particularly interested in detecting viral hepatitis and tuberculosis using quantitative and qualitative PCR.

The center features a number of modern scientific equipment, including:

• Centrifuges with variable speeds.
• Protein electrophoresis devices.
• Vertical and horizontal laminar flow air sterilizers.
• Real-Time PCR device.
• Micro-Drop nucleic acid and protein concentration measuring device.
• Nucleic acid analyzer and automated protein analyzer (PCR).
• Tissue culture room, in addition to other auxiliary equipment.
• The laboratory has been accredited by the National Accreditation Council (EGAC).
• Nucleic acid electrophoresis devices.
