“Training Course “Fundamentals of Medical Laboratory Analysis: Principles and Techniques

Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Hazem El-Mashneb, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and under the supervision of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Diaa Radwan, Head of the Department of Botany and Microbiology, a training course was held for fourth–year students of the Microbiology and Chemistry Program entitled “Fundamentals of Medical Laboratory Analysis: Principles and Techniques.”

The course was delivered by Dr. Walaa Mohamed Abdel Rahim, Consultant and Certified Trainer in Medical Laboratory Analysis at the Genetic Engineering Laboratory. The training aimed to enhance the practical skills and scientific expertise of students in the department and to qualify them for the labor market.

The program covered an introduction to laboratory tests, key laboratory measuring devices, principles of their operation, the steps of analytical procedures, the most common analytical errors affecting test results, their consequences, and the importance of practical training in developing proficient laboratory specialists capable of improving the quality of laboratory testing.

The course was attended by 60 students from the Microbiology and Chemistry Program. It included a practical workshop at the Genetic Engineering Laboratory, where students received hands-on training in safe sample collection procedures and were introduced to the structure and function of the spectrophotometer (chemistry analyzer). Students also conducted several analyses using the device, such as glucose and protein tests.

The course emphasized the importance of preparing highly skilled laboratory specialists who can contribute to enhancing laboratory quality and providing accurate results that support better community health.

Following the training, the Dean of the Faculty held an open discussion with the students to identify the most important programs and training courses needed to further develop their skills and better prepare them for the demands of the labor market.

At the end of the course, certificates of attendance were awarded to the participating students, with sincere wishes for their continued success and progress in the future.
