Unit Establishment

The Faculty Council, in its 350th session held on June 20, 2010, approved on the inclusion of the Intellectual Property Unit among the newly established units in the faculty’s organizational structure

Vision and Mission

  • Vision
    • To have the unit be able to disseminate the culture of intellectual property among all faculty members.
  • Mission
    • To disseminate the culture of intellectual property by raising the awareness of legitimate and illegitimate intellectual property practices.

    Objectives

    The Credibility and Intellectual Property Unit at Faculty of Science, Sohag University, is committed to promoting the unit’s objectives, which include:

    • Disseminating a culture of credibility and intellectual property rights among all the staff members.
    •  Raising the awareness of the protection of university publications and textbooks among all Faculty of Science members
    • Raising the awareness of the concept of patents and the resulting rights of use for their owners.
    •  Raising awareness of computer software piracy and digital piracy and ways to protect against them.
    •  Guiding innovators on how to apply for patents.
    •  Encouraging academic departments to implement internal procedures to ensure copyright and intellectual property rights related to university books, research, and academic dissertations
