For the second consecutive day, the Faculty of Science continues the activities of its 9th Environmental Week<\/strong> under the university\u2019s slogan \u201cEmpowerment for Sustainability\u2026 An Inclusive Environment for a Greener Future.\u201d<\/em> The event is held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Numani<\/strong>, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Khaled Omran<\/strong>, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.<\/p>\n

The Faculty organized an awareness seminar entitled \u201cEnvironmental Protection: A National Responsibility\u201d<\/strong> under the patronage and supervision of Prof. Dr. Hazem El-Mashnib<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Omar El-Hady<\/strong>, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research. The lecture was delivered by Eng. Mohamed Issa<\/strong>, Director of the Environmental Affairs Agency in Sohag Governorate, in the presence of several faculty members, the Faculty Secretary, and a large number of students.<\/p>\n

Prof. Dr. Hazem El-Mashnib opened the seminar by affirming that protecting the environment is a deeply rooted national and moral obligation that requires collective awareness and active participation from all members of society. He emphasized that university youth are true leaders of positive change and encouraged them to adopt sustainable practices and spread this culture within their communities to achieve comprehensive sustainable development. He also added that the Faculty of Science places significant emphasis on instilling the values of sustainability and making environmental protection an integral part of its educational, research, and community mission.<\/p>\n

Eng. Mohamed Issa then delivered a comprehensive lecture presenting the strategic vision of the Environmental Affairs Agency and its efforts in environmental monitoring and the protection of natural resources. He outlined the national and international legislative framework for environmental protection and discussed the immediate challenges facing Sohag Governorate, such as waste management, pollution control, and preserving the purity of the Nile River. He stressed that environmental responsibility is a national and ethical duty that requires the cooperation of all segments of society.<\/p>\n

Prof. Dr. Omar El-Hady reaffirmed the Faculty\u2019s commitment to its pioneering role in advancing environmental sustainability through integrating environmental concepts into academic curricula and encouraging applied scientific research that provides practical solutions to local environmental issues. He emphasized the Faculty\u2019s continued efforts to organize activities that strengthen productive partnerships between the university and the community.<\/p>\n

The seminar concluded with an engaging discussion session in which students actively interacted with the speaker, raising questions about ways to address environmental challenges. The lecturer responded to all inquiries, and attendees expressed their deep appreciation for such events, which enrich knowledge and broaden perspectives on critical environmental issues.<\/p>\n

The Dean also expressed his determination to continue this approach and to expand cooperation with community institutions to organize more workshops and practical field activities that contribute to preparing a conscious and qualified generation capable of addressing future environmental challenges.<\/p>\n
